At a 2019 red carpet event, visual artist Alexandra Grant and Keanu Reeves first revealed their relationship to the world.

The two had worked together on several publications and attended a lot of events together for a long period before they were romantically involved. 

 

Early in 2019, the two's connection took a romantic turn, and they're prepared to go public.

 

In 2019, a person close to People stated, "Keanu wants to openly share his life with her." He is really appreciative and glad to have Alex in his life. Despite wanting to keep it quiet, they began dating earlier this year.

The 54-year-old artist Grant has collaborated with Reeves on several projects.

Without Reeves, 59, the acclaimed visual artist, 50, attended the Los Angeles Beverly Arts Icon Awards on Friday. When asked if walking the red carpet alone is tougher or easier, she said thoughtfully.

 

"I had established my own career by the time our relationship started, which is a positive aspect of falling in love as an adult," she tells PEOPLE. "I have a lot of faith in the partnership on the red carpet. I feel secure doing it by myself.

 

 

"In the best senses, it's both interdependent and independent," she continues.

It has been noted by People that Reeves penned two novels, Ode to Happiness (2011) and Shadows (2016), which Grant illustrated. In 2017, they also co-founded X Artists' Books, a publishing house.

The Talented Artist Who Captured Keanu's Heart

Although Grant, who was honored at the event, walked the red carpet by herself at The Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, she has been pictured with Reeves at a number of occasions since the two announced their relationship to the public in 2019.

 

Grant began her answer by describing an instance in which she felt trapped creatively in response to a question on how she and the John Wick star, who first began as friends and partners, deal with each other's work surroundings.

 

"I once said, in a moment of frustration, that sometimes I feel like a Maserati stuck in traffic—that is, that even though I have this big engine, I could never go for a variety of reasons," the actress tells PEOPLE.

She remarks, "I adore how Keanu and I are encouraging each other to forge new paths in our interactions." Observing how someone else solves problems inspires me, making me realize that sometimes a solution is a dead end. "How can I attempt this other thing?"

 

 

"I find him to be such an inspiration," she says. He's really sweet and creative. He puts in a lot of effort in his profession.

Additionally, Grant says that "storytelling is at the heart" of what she and her partner, an actor, do.

 

"I have a text that I interpret in the studio into a painting, into an object, but my work is much more of a private performance," she explains. He reads the poem aloud before turning it into a public performance. A connection exists. At our core, we are both researchers and readers. Characters and people are two things that both concern us.

 

Grant continued by making a metaphorical comparison between her and Reeves' creative realms.

 

She said, "I think there are a lot of similarities." There are moments when I want to make a movie about a cruise ship, like what we're experiencing in the strike right now. Everybody is reliant on every other person. You really can't go off and—maybe in the early days of my work as an artist, I was like a kayaker on the sea of inspiration. Even though it's a smaller speedboat, it is nevertheless far more agile.
